The Kandy Perahara

The Kandy Perahara, also known as the Esala Perahera, is a grand religious and cultural festival held annually in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is one of the most significant and colorful events in the country, attracting both local and international visitors.

The Perahara takes place over a period of ten nights, usually in the month of July or August, and culminates in the final night known as the Randoli Perahara. The festival is held to honor the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha, which is housed in the Temple of the Tooth (Sri Dalada Maligawa) in Kandy.
